IMPORTANT
READ BEFORE USE
CONENTS ARE PRESSURIZED AND CONSIDERED
HAZARDOUS
The contents of the StayFill™ cartridges are under high pressure. Improper
storage and/or use can cause physical harm to humans and damage to property.
DO NOT STORE NEAR HIGH HEAT. DO NOT EXPOSE TO HIGH HEAT
(ABOVE 125ºF/51.7ºC.)
DO NOT INGEST OR INHALE.
CONTENTS ARE CONSIDERED AN ASPHYXIANT.
The contents of this StayFill™ cartridge will fill more than one bicycle
tire. Thus, it is important that the user avoid overfilling. Over filling of
a tire can cause a tube to burst or rupture, and a tire to pop off of its rim.
Tools required for use:
- Screw-on tire inflator for either a Presta or Schrader valve type (or
both).
Available from StayFill™.
- Pressure gauge capable of reading from the pertinent valve type.
- Safety glasses and gloves
STEPS TO USE STAYFILL SAFELY
- Before using an inflating tool or adapter and if using an inflator with a
shut-off control valve, be sure that the valve controlling gas flow is completely
closed (to prevent leakage when attaching it to the cartridge).
- Holding the StayFill™ cartridge’s threaded end away from you,
screw on inflator to puncture the cartridge. Make sure inflator is screwed
on completely to avoid leakage.
Completely deflate the tire or tube that will be filled (by depressing the
pin in the valve’s stem).
- Screw the inflator- cartridge combination COMPLETELY onto the stem of the
tube. Be sure that the inflator is screwed onto the stem tightly and as far
as possible to avoid leakage when filling.
- When the inflator is completely screwed onto the valve’s stem, SLOWLY open the control valve to initiate filling. (With the first tire being filled,
there is no need to open the valve completely as this could cause over filling.)
- CLOSELY MONITOR the filling process to prevent over inflation. The initial
inflation process can be monitored simply by touch. As the tube nears its
desired pressure, attach a pressure gauge to determine actual fill pressure.
Add product to suit desired levels.
ADDITIONAL USE & SAFETY NOTES:
NOTE 1: As the StayFill™ cartridge empties, it will get extremely cold.
This is normal, but may require that the user wear a glove to protect from
the very remote chance of frostbite.
NOTE 2: As the StayFill™ cartridge empties and gets cold (as explained
in Note 1 above), the gas in the tire will also be cold. As the gas warms to
the ambient temperature, it will expand, thereby increasing the pressure in
a tube. It is therefore advised that a second pressure reading be taken after
the tube has had a chance to sit and the temperatures equalize. Or simply,
let 1 to 2 minutes elapse before taking a final reading.
NOTE 3: Dispose of the empty StayFill™ cartridge properly and responsibly.
The cartridge can be recycled as a normal steel product.
NOTE 4: The StayFill™ contents do NOT deplete the ozone layer.
NOTE 5: Traveling by commercial aircraft with StayFill™ cartridges SHOULD
be acceptable according to the United States Transportation Security Administration
(TSA). The TSA website (www.tsa.gov) as of this writing indicates that “Small
compressed gas cartridges” are permissible in both carry-on and checked
luggage. However, this may be contested by TSA employees at your local airport
and by the airlines themselves., and your StayFill™ cartridges MAY BE
CONFISCATED. Before traveling with StayFill™ cartridges, it is strongly
advised that you consult your local airline, airport and/or travel agent, and
check the TSA website for any changes that may have occurred since this was
printed.
NOTE 6: For shipping purposes (via USPS, UPS, Federal Express, etc.), StayFill™ cartridges
are considered “Dangerous Goods” by the US Department of Transportation.
Consequently, StayFill™ cartridges should only be shipped by someone
properly trained and authorized to ship hazardous and dangerous goods. If you
require that StayFill™ cartridges be shipped to an alternative location,
contact StayFill for assistance.
